Good afternoon, Tiger Families! Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the process by which a student can "skip" one year of content in either Math or ELA by demonstrating that they have already mastered the content to be skipped. Eligibility for SSA is determined through testing. Please note that courses taken for high school credit (such as Math 1 and Math 2) cannot be skipped through the SSA process.
The SSA process is usually completed in the Spring of the school year, so that students can begin the following year in their accelerated placement. However, due to the closure last year, SSA assessments are being conducted during this first month of school.
If you have questions about SSA or would like to nominate your child (in either Math or ELA, but not both), please email Carly Williams at: [email protected] by the end of the day on August 31st.
For more information, please visit the WCPSS SSA information page. Thank you!
